Your SoCal Weather Report For Thursday, June 6: Hot In The Inland Areas And Deserts

The heat wave continues for the deserts and inland areas today.
Coastal areas will see mostly cloudy skies this afternoon, but elsewhere, expect sunny skies.
The Malibu coast will see highs in the 60s, but the rest of L.A. and Orange county beaches, including the inland coast, will see highs between 70 to 75 degrees.
For the San Gabriel Valley and eastern San Fernando Valley, daytime highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, upper 80s to low 90s for the western San Fernando Valley and Santa Clarita.
Inland Empire will see highs between 86 to 96 degrees. Expect tonight's lows to be in the low 60s, upper 50s and in the 70s for the deserts.
About the heat warnings
Weather forecasts have issued several heat warnings across the Southland — they apply to the Inland Empire, western San Gabriel Mountains and the Highway 14 corridor. High heat will continue until 8 p.m. Expect high temperatures in the upper 90s to 107 degrees.
Excessive heat will continue through Friday evening for the high and low deserts — expect highs of up to 112 degrees for the low desert, and up to 105 degrees in the high desert.

- Lotions in the fridge
- Eat spicy foods in the basement (or on the floor) while wearing a damp shirt and listening to the rain setting on your white noise machine
- Make sure ceiling fans are running counterclockwise
- Wet paper towels. Fold into ankle and wrist cuffs. Freeze. Wear. Repeat.
- Build a DIY AC
- Build a mini cold air fan
- Build an "evaporative cooler for immediate heat relief"
- Make a barricade of fans and ice cubes
- Go to an air-conditioned store and browse for as long as possible (Target is a good option for this).
- Close all the curtains, preferably the heat-absorbing kind
- Or open all the windows, depending on the breeze situation
- Cool bath or shower twice a day
- Wash your sheets before bed but don't dry them — put them on your bed damp (provided you're dealing with a dry heat)
- Portable A/C unit
