About those advisories
Coastal flooding and high surf
Be careful at the beaches these next few days as more high surf and minor coastal flooding will affect SoCal Beaches.
A coastal flood advisory has been issued for Orange and Los Angeles county beaches, including Catalina Island and the Malibu coast where low-lying areas such as parking lots and roads will see some flooding during morning high tide through noon Thursday.
Starting Wednesday a high surf advisory is in effect — expect large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet at Orange and L.A. county beaches, including dangerous rip currents. West-facing beaches will see the highest surf where up to 9 feet sets are expected.
Freeze/frost advisories
Santa Clarita Valley, Woodland Hills and Van Nuys are under a frost advisory until 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, San Bernardino and Riverside county valleys are experiencing subfreezing temperatures as low as 27 degrees until 9 a.m.
This day in history
On this day in 2017 a strong mountain wave produced a wind gust up to 107 mph in Burns Canyon, east of the San Bernardino mountains.
Things to do
Enjoy some indoor storytelling on this chilly night.
'Mercury' (Opening Night): Director Ann Hearn Tobolowsky gives her take on the Steve Yockey-written play, Mercury. Three stories cross outside of Portland, Oregon in a black comedy featuring an illicit affair, a couple hanging on by a thread, bears at the window, the worst curiosity shop on the West Coast, and a missing dog named Mr. Bundles.
