Meteorologist Andrew Rorke said snow levels are expected to be as low as 4,000 to 5,000 feet, which could affect the 5 Freeway through the Tejon pass and the 15 through the Cajon pass.

"Through resort areas we would urge people to definitely call ahead to make sure that roads are open," Rorke added. "People traveling to and from Vegas should be concerned Wednesday night and Thursday morning, as both the higher passes through the mountains could see some snow."

What about the rain?

Showers are expected to begin late Tuesday. Rain will roll through the area after sunrise Wednesday until around noon.
