One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

It's Thursday and we're looking at temperatures about 5 to 10 degrees cooler today than it's been all week.

Quick Facts

  • Today’s weather: warm, sunny
  • Beaches: low to mid 70s
  • Mountains/deserts: upper 70s to 80s/90s-103
  • Inland:90s
  • Warnings and advisories: None

Skies are clear for the foreseeable future and high temperatures are back on the radar.

Along the coast, it's going to be in the low to mid-70s, perfect for a stroll along the beach — and the good news is that the ocean water quality advisory for L.A. and Orange County beaches is over. Now you can actually enjoy a full-on beach day.

In downtown L.A., highs will be in the low 80s. In the valleys, up to the mid-90s. Inland, temperatures dropped to the upper 80s. In the low desert, temperatures will jump to 105 degrees.

On this day in history

On Aug. 24, 2013, Tropical Storm Ivo brought thunderstorms to eastern Riverside and Imperial Counties.

This month also broke monthly rainfall records in L.A. and Ventura County.
