'For Your Consideration' Awards Campaigns Cover Los Angeles As Studios Jostle For Position
Topline:
For Your Consideration season is fully underway in Hollywood, with billboards, posters, and events on seemingly every block of Los Angeles.
Why now: Emmy voting kicks off Thursday, and as such, now is peak season for studios to shill out its shows and its stars. Events featuring series creators and actors, and billboards with FYC plastered on them, are hard to miss in Los Angeles, with studios hoping for eligible voters to take note of their offerings. Come Friday, though, the madness will mostly cease.
Clang clang goes the trolley: The out-of-home advertising market in Los Angeles is estimated to be a more than $1 billion annual business. Event spaces surge in demand. And public spaces get sucked into the “for your consideration” fun as well. Last weekend at The Grove, the Peacock reality competition series The Traitors took over, complete with a “castle garden” set up in the middle of the outdoor mall and the famous Grove trolley wrapped in Traitors ads.
Joining the fun: Media outlets, including The Ankler, get in on the action, hosting stars and behind-the-camera talent to discuss their projects. For example, David Oyelowo, star and executive producer of the limited series Lawmen: Bass Reeves, participated in an Ankler event earlier this week where he discussed why he wanted to make a series about the first Black U.S. Marshal.
