Morning Briefing: Officer Involved Shooting In Pasadena

Another police shooting darkened this scorching weekend, as friends and family set up a memorial where Anthony McClain, who was riding as a passenger in a car that was pulled over for a routine traffic stop, was killed Saturday night.
According to the Pasadena police – the only witness testimony available to the public at the moment – the passenger “became uncooperative, preventing a search of his person.”
Police say that he then got out of the car and ran, then pulled a gun out of his waistband. It was after he produced the gun, says the department, that the officer shot. Police say the man had dropped a gun on the ground.
McClain’s younger brother, Dion McClain, told KPCC’s Josie Huang that Anthony was a father of two.
"I can't even really talk. They killed my brother though," he said. "I hate police – straight up. They're not here to protect and serve, none of that. They're here to kill us."
