A brush fire that started on Saturday morning in the unincorporated community of Somis in Ventura County triggering evacuation orders and warnings. Fire officials expect evacuations to be lifted by Sunday afternoon.
An Evacuation Warning remains in effect for the following area:
Saticoy Country Club Area
- North : Santa Clara River
- South and West: W. Los Angeles Ave.
- East: La Vista Ave.
Evacuation Orders are being lifted for the following areas, effective 8 a.m.:
Somis
- North : East La Loma Avenue & West La Loma Avenue
- South: East Los Angeles Avenue
- East: Aggen Road
- West: La Vista Avenue
Mission Rock Road Area, Santa Paula
- North : Highway 126
- South: Santa Clara River
- East: South Briggs Road
What we know so far: The fire started at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, burning on South Mountain between the communities of Somis and Santa Paula. Dubbed the South Fire, it's now burned more than 2,900 acres, at 15% containment, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
More than 600 firefighters are fighting the fire as of Sunday morning.

Red Flag Warning: The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Los Angeles and Ventura counties until 3 p.m. Sunday as Santa Ana winds, with gusts of up to 35 - 50 mph whipping the areas.
