Topline:
The Los Angeles Dodgers are heading to the World Series after beating the New York Mets 10-5 in front of a hometown crowd on Sunday. They now face the Yankees, who beat the Guardians 5-2 on Saturday night.
Ecstatic fans: Dodgers fans celebrated the win at the ballpark, sports bars, and at home watch parties. "This World Series trip feels special. As a long time Dodgers fan, I'm so excited to avenge the 2017 and 2018 losses and add to the 2020 trophy," Greg Toya, a diehard fan who watched the game at his parents' home in Torrance, said.
Why now: It took until Game 6 in the best-of-seven series for the National League champs to secure their spot in the World Series for the first time since 2020.
