    With almost zero clouds in sight, don't forget to pack the sunscreen, moisturizers and lip balm for today's weather.

    The good news is that today will be much cooler, with highs in the 70s for most of Southern California.

    Along the coasts, temperatures stay in the low 70s, whereas in downtown Los Angeles expect a high of 74. The valleys and inland region — Riverside and San Bernardino counties — will average to the mid 70s. In Irvine, expect a high of 79.

    The low desert temperatures will stay at 78, whereas in the high desert it will average 60 degrees.

    Tonight's lows will be in the 50s for most of Southern California, and down to the 30s for the high desert.

    About those advisories

    The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for several parts of Southern California, from Ventura County, to Santa Clarita and into the Inland Empire.

    Wind speeds will average between 30 to 50 mph, with the strongest gusts near the mountains and foothills reaching up to 70 mph.

    This high wind event will last until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

    This day in history

    On this day in 2004, thundersnow (yes, you read that right) was reported in the high desert, bringing a two-day snow event. Snow reached as low as 1,000 feet.
