Come From Away is maybe my favorite new musical of the last 10 years. (Okay, okay, I see you, Hamilton and Dear Evan Hanson fans, and yes, those, too. What can I say? The mid-2010s were really strong for new Broadway shows.) The music in Come From Away is infectious, the story is heartfelt and true, and the staging is iconic. This version of the show at La Mirada — I have it on good authority — is worth the drive, no matter where in the area you are. The show follows the people of Gander, Newfoundland and the passengers stranded there when all of their lives are upended after planes get stuck there on 9/11.
