Black Lives Matter protestors in L.A. took to the streets Wednesday evening, creating a blockade on the 101 Freeway to protest the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed by a white police officer yesterday in Minneapolis.

The protest started in front of L.A. District Attorney Jackie Lacey's office, and continued onto the 101 Freeway, blocking eastbound traffic, where a number of protesters climbed onto the hood of a California Highway Patrol vehicle.

NBC4 chopper video showed the car then driving slowly as people rolled off — and then accelerating. One protester was injured; but his injuries did not appear to be fatal.

Protests have taken place across the country after video surfaced on social media showing the white Minneapolis police officer planting a knee firmly on George Floyd's neck, as Floyd calls out for help.
