Los Angeles is the most diverse and interesting food city in the United States. It's a place where street tacos are as revered as any 12-course omakase dinner — and rightly so. My job is to connect hungry Angelenos — through food — to the culture, history, people and neighborhoods that make up our city.
I have worked extensively in journalism, mostly online and print. Before coming to KPCC/LAist, I was the arts and culture editor at Los Angeles magazine, a restaurant critic for LA Weekly and a reporter at the Los Angeles Times. I also wrote extensively for entertainment industry trade magazines.
I have covered everything from wildfires and mass shootings to the exotic meat trade and the fight over street vending. Professionally, I'm interested in food justice and food economics. Personally, I'm obsessed with con artists, cults, collectors, scams and shams. My work has appeared in California Sunday, The Believer, Bitch and HiLobrow, among other publications. I (almost) never turn down dark chocolate.
