A Celebration Of The City's History On Los Angeles' 235th Birthday
Happy birthday, Los Angeles! On September 4, our fair city turns 235—on September 4, 1781, 44 original settlers and 4 soldiers founded El Pueblo de La Reina de los Ángeles. In honor of the anniversary, here is a brief history of the city in 50 entries. It is by no means comprehensive or all-encompassing, but together these events have helped shape El Pueblo into the Los Angeles we know today.
