The filmmaker is the writer and director of the new Netflix film, "The Land of Steady Habits," and a co-writer on "Can You Ever Forgive Me?" Both films are premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival. She and John Horn share their memories of being at the Toronto fest on 9/11.

Tirzah stirs up a quiet storm

The experimental R&B musician Tirzah Mastin is known for her collaborations with film composer Mica Levi. They met at Purcell School for Young Musicians in England and have worked together on two EPs — 2013’s I’m Not Dancing and 2014’s No Romance. Their first full-length album, “Devotion,” a collection of austere love songs, was released last month to critical acclaim. The South London artist spoke with The Frame recently about her latest.
