FILMMAKER EXPOSES THERANOS FOUNDER ELIZABETH HOLMES

The new HBO documentary "The Inventor," directed by Alex Gibney, traces the the spectacular rise and dramatic fall of Theranos and its founder Elizabeth Holmes. Holmes dropped out of Stanford University at the age of 19 and founded Theranos, a healthcare technology company that aimed to revolutionize blood testing. Instead of a vials of blood needed for medical testing, Theranos claimed that its Edison devices needed just a finger prick's worth of blood to produce the same results. The problem was, the device never worked. Employees who raised issues were silenced or fired. And Holmes, who's since been criminally indicted for fraud, still maintains she did nothing wrong. Alex Gibney spoke with The Frame at this year's Sundance Film Festival, where "The Inventor" premiered.

THE LEGACY OF SURFER GUITARIST DICK DALE

The man who founded surfer guitar music, Dick Dale, died yesterday. His song "Miserlou" was used in the Quentin Tarantino movie "Pulp Fiction" in 1994 which gave the old rocker a new crop of fans. He was a tireless performer who, despite health problems, was still touring. Steven Cuevas interviewed Dale over the years and shares his insights into his sound and legacy with John Horn.
