Texas natives Terry and Jo Harvey Allen have been creating art and music together for the better part of 50 years. Terry’s early albums, “Juarez” (1975) and “Lubbock (on everything)” (1979), merged outlaw country music with his love for drawing and performance art. He’s collaborated with musicians such as Guy Clark, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and David Byrne. Jo Harvey is an actress and performance artist who has appeared in Terry’s radio plays and performance pieces. In the late 1960s, she hosted a country radio show out of Pasadena called "Rawhide and Roses," which they programmed together. They spoke with The Frame about his retrospective at L.A. Louver gallery called “Terry Allen: The Exact Moment It Happens.”

The Current is an all-music public radio station in St. Paul, Minnesota — part of American Public Media, which also operates KPCC. The Current regularly presents in-studio interviews and performances with up-and-coming musicians and is sharing those sessions with The Frame. We launch our collaboration with J.S. Ondara, a singer-songwriter from Kenya who became so taken with the music of Bob Dylan that he moved to Minnesota, where Dylan was born. Ondara's debut album, "Tales of America," was released earlier this year to wide acclaim.
