The art world can get a little creepy

In writer/director Dan Gilroy’s new film, “Velvet Buzzsaw,” Jake Gyllenhaal plays an art critic named Morf Vandewalt. They'd last worked together on the 2014 thriller “Nightcrawler” — which Gilroy also wrote and directed — about a news cameraman with some very unsavory methods of capturing footage. Set in the contemporary art scene of Los Angeles, “Velvet Buzzsaw” takes a satirical view of the connection between art and commerce — and then, things get very, very scary. John Horn spoke with Gyllenhaal before the movie's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
