No woman has ever won a Grammy for Producer of the Year. Not since 2004 has a woman even been nominated. Now producer Linda Perry, who has written and recorded hits for Alicia Keys, P!nk and Christina Aguilera, is looking to change that. She’s nominated for her work with Dolly Parton on the Netflix movie “Dumplin,” the soundtrack to the documentary "Served Like a Girl," Dorothy’s album "28 Days in the Valley" and Willa Amai’s cover of Daft Punk’s “Harder Better Faster Stronger.” John Horn visits Perry at We Are Hear, a studio and workspace she co-founded with Kerry Brown in Studio City, Ca.

KPCC's new podcast "The Big One" is about the massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake that's expected to cripple Southern California. While it is based on science, and includes plenty of interviews with experts, it's also largely focused on story. A fictionalized hero, multiple storylines, music and sound design all work together to put listeners at the center of "The Big One" and its aftermath. Arwen Champion-Nicks, executive producer of "The Big One," and Jacob Margolis, host and KPCC science reporter, talk about their unique approach.
