On today's show:

The Best Laid Plans ...

The Motion Picture Academy has made great strides in diversifying its membership, but this year's nominations again raise the specter of #OscarsSoWhite. John talks about the nominees with Kyle Buchanan of the New York Times. We'll feature archived interviews with lead actress nominees Cynthia Erivo from "Harriet" (the only non-white artist among the 20 actor nominees) and Renée Zellweger ("Judy.") We'll also hear from Hildur Guðnadóttir, nominated for her score from "Joker."
