On today's show:
Big Talent From The Big Easy
Pianist Jon Batiste is the bandleader for "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." Hailing from a small town near New Orleans, Batiste moved to New York City as a teenager to attend the Juilliard School. Batiste’s 2018 album, "Hollywood Africans," illustrates his musical dexterity, covering everything from Thelonious Monk to Katy Perry to the Sonic the Hedgehog video game theme. And in 2019 he released two albums recorded live at the Village Vanguard, " Chronology of a Dream" and "Anatomy of Angels." He spoke with John Horn about his New Orleans roots and the task of composing daily for "The Late Show."
