ROSAMUND PIKE BRINGS MARIE COLVIN BACK TO LIFE
In the new film “A Private War,” Rosamund Pike plays celebrated war correspondent Marie Colvin. She was an American reporter for The Sunday Times of London who was killed while on assignment in Syria in 2012. Even before her death, Colvin was a bit of a legend among her colleagues. She’d reported from conflict zones in Kosovo, East Timor, Iraq, Libya, Chechnya and Sri Lanka, where she lost her left eye in a grenade attack in 2001. Pike tells John Horn that her goal for "A Private War" was to make her own personality and mannerisms completely disappear, and give director Matthew Heineman — who is also a documentary filmmaker — a version of Colvin that was as close to the real reporter as possible.
