EMILIO ESTEVEZ TACKLES HOMELESSNESS IN "THE PUBLIC"

For many people experiencing homelessness, a public library can be a refuge. And as cities struggle to adequately address the homelessness crisis, librarians have become de facto first responders. In the new movie, "The Public," a group of homeless library patrons in Cincinnati, faced with a blistering cold snap and a lack of shelter space, occupy the library in protest. "The Public" is written and directed by Emilio Estevez, who also stars as librarian Stuart Goodson. Estevez spoke with The Frame guest host Steven Cuevas about "The Public" and the real-life inspiration behind it.

This Friday, the ABC family comedy, "Fresh Off the Boat," will air its 100th episode. It’s a historic first for a show with an Asian American lead cast. But the sitcom’s fate is up in the air. ABC hasn’t announced renewal plans yet. KPCC’s Josie Huang visits the set to hear about where the show’s been, where it’s headed and what its legacy will be on the TV landscape.
