  • Zach Courser co-director of the Policy Lab at Claremont McKenna College

'Totally Under Control'

Filmmakers never know what will be going on in the world when their movies finally reach the public. But for Alex Gibney, dropping the trailer of his new movie the day that the world learned that President Trump tested positive for the coronavirus was all too timely. Gibney's film “Totally Under Control” is about how the coronavirus pandemic spread and, in particular, how the Trump administration responded to it.

Guest:

  • Alex Gibney, director of "Totally Under Control"

Rebel Girls

It's International Girl's Day on Sunday, so in advance of that we want to talk about a new book that's out for kids. You may be familiar with Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls. Well, there is a new edition featuring 100 Immigrant Women Who Changed the World. A Martinez talks to the author.

Guest:

  • Elena Favilli, author of 100 Immigrant Women Who Changed the World

Lots of orders.  It’s a story playing out at indie bookstores everywhere, so we sent KPCC’s Giuliana Mayo out to see how LA’s shops are holding up in the time of COVID-19.
