GLOBAL CONFLICT PROMPTS LA PROTESTS

Fighting broke out between Armenia and Azerbaijan just over a week ago. Since then, hundreds have been killed on both sides. And just this weekend, protestors supporting Armenia gathered outside of the CNN building in Los Angeles.

SURFER MAGAZINE WAVES ITS GOODBYE

After 60 years, Surfer Magazine will publish no more. Recognized as the “Bible of the Sport,” the closure of Surfer Magazine leaves a hole in the surf media space, and in the hearts of many surfers here in Southern California who’ve grown up with the monthly publication.

THE END OF A CINEMATIC ERA

The movie industry has been hit hard by the pandemic and the theaters, in particular, have seemed to be hovering on the edge of total collapse. Things are looking worse. On Thursday all 536 Regal cinemas around the US will close. That chain’s parent company, Cineworld will also close all of its theaters in the UK. The last straw? Another delay of the new James Bond movie. KPCC’s John Horn has been tracking the health of movie theaters and he joins A Martinez to discuss.
