Armenia and Azerbaijan End Nagorno-Karabakh War

We discuss the Russian-brokered agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to end the war in Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh as well as the significance of the agreement for the Armenian diaspora in Los Angeles.

Disinformation and the Latino Vote

A record 32-million Latinos were eligible to vote in this year’s election. That accounts for 13.3% of all eligible voters in the country...making it the largest racial or ethnic minority group in the electorate, according to the Pew Research Center. And while that influence has drawn a ton of attention from both presidential candidates this year, it’s also made Latino voters the target of disinformation campaigns... being spread through radio, social media... and platforms like Whatsapp.

Should We Still Pay Attention to the Polls ?

In the days following Nov. 3rd when there was no clear answer as to who would be the next president…the only thing that was clear was just how much pollsters underestimated the voters who turned out for President Trump. Much like 2016, pre-election polls showed the Democratic candidate winning by a significant margin. But as we know now, the count turned out to be far closer than any of these models had predicted. So what happened? And just how wrong did the polls get it ?

Props to Undo Laws

Though the vote count is still on going in California, a few trends have emerged. One is that voters sided with businesses that spent a whole lot of money this election season to use the ballot process to overturn laws that they - to put it simply - just didn’t like. You saw it with Prop 22. Thanks to the electorate, ride share companies successfully exempted its drivers from a state labor law. But it is not the only industry that pulled this off.

Sheriff Removal

Now let’s check in on the Board of Supervisors meeting where we’ve been waiting to hear whether it will move forward with a proposal to examine whether it can remove Sheriff Alex Sheriff Villanueva from his elected position. And it appears the board is split on this.

El Cap Ascent

Climber Emily Harrington has just pulled off a climbing feat in Yosemite National Park-- making her the fourth woman to free climb El Capitan. She made history as the first woman to do it via a very treacherous route known as the Golden Gate. Oh, and one more thing….she did it in under 24 hours.
