Same Sex Black Vote

Christian Walker was just a teen when California voters chose to reject same-sex marriage. Early exit polls seemed to show nay votes were particularly high in the black community. Walker, who identifies as queer, was part of a black church and felt like he had to find a balance between blackness and his orientation. Ten years after the vote, how much has changed in black communities?

Bohemian Rhapsody, the music biopic that tells the story of Queen's lead singer, Freddie Mercury, was a box office champion, but critics said this one bit the dust. Did drama with director Bryan Singer, who was fired from the project before filming finished, contribute to how the movie turned out? Plus, The Color Purple, a beloved novel from Alice Walker, was turned into a movie back in 1985 and now there's another film adaptation coming.

Election Day Rides

The election is almost here so if you're thinking about how you're getting to polls on Tuesday, L.A. Metro has you covered. Rides on Metro, Foothill Transit and Pasadena Transit will all be free on election day. Uber and Lyft are also offering free rides to the polls, all to encourage more people to get out and vote. L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti pushed for Metro's election-day policy citing research saying that over half of non-voters listed transportation an obstacle.
