New Stimulus Checks from Governor Newsom

On Monday, Gov. Gavin Newsom unveiled huis $100 billion "California Comeback" recovery plan. This includes $5 billion towards rental relief and $600 stimulus checks going out to nearly two thirds of all Californians.

Rep. Ted Lieu Bill Aims to Give America's Writers Work

After several months of discussion, Rep. Ted Lieu introduced the 21st Century Federal Writers’ Project. Modeled after FDR's Works Progress Administration program on the 1930s, this Writers' Project would provide $60 million administered by the Department of Labor to nonprofits, libraries, news outlets and communications unions to provide work to out of work and underemployed writers and journalists to tell the stories of the pandemic.

New Regulations for Polluting Warehouses

The South Coast Air Quality Management District board on Friday approved a rule that would curb diesel emissions from thousands of trucks that travel back and forth carrying goods being housed in the massive amount of warehouses now populating areas like the Inland Empire. Research shows that the mostly minority communities living around these warehouses have experiences a significant uptick in pollution that's triggered ill health effects.

NBC Will Drop Golden Globes in 2022

The Los Angeles reported earlier today that after months of controversy with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, NBC has said it will not air the Golden Globes next year.
