Protests Over Removal of Homeless at Echo Park Lake
Protesters last night attempted to stop the city of Los Angeles from closing the area around Echo Park Lake and displacing the unhoused people who live there. But LAPD officers surrounded activists while workers put up a fence that now goes around the entire park. Signs posted nearby says people who remain have until 10:30 tonight to leave.

The Reality of Gun Violence in 2020 - it Was Way Up
Following the shooting in Boulder, Colorado this week, much of the news coverage seemed to suggest that mass shootings were happening again now that the pandemic is fading away. Just the week before, eight people were also killed by a single shooter in Atlanta. But the sad fact of the matter is that gun violence was up in 2020. Nearly 20, 000 people were killed in shootings last year - more than in the last two decades - and another 24, 000 were killed by suicide. That's according to data from the gun violence archives.
