LA's Asian American Community Responds to Atlanta Shootings

Eight people were killed last night in a shooting spree spread across three Atlanta massage parlors. The shooter - who police say is 21 years of age - has been charged with 8 counts of murder. Details are still coming out about this devastating act of violence, but there is at least ONE fact that that we do know: six out of the eighty people murdered were of Asian descent. Police say the shooter denied that race was a factor, but last night’s killing comes at a time when reports of hate crimes against the Asian American Pacific Islander community are at a record high.

Faith in a Pandemic Year: Venerable Bhante Sanathavihari Bhikkhu

It's been quite a year with a lot of loss but also newfound joy in little things we may not have been aware off in our pre-pandemic lives. As we slowly come out of the fog that stay-at-home orders created around our lives, we want to reflect on where we have been and where we are headed. Why a Universal Basic Income Should Be Standard

When Michael Tubbs was still mayor of Stockton, California, he announced an ambitious program – give a select 125 people 500 bucks every month for two years. A study released earlier this year found it produced overwhelmingly positive results. Tubbs is now an economic advisor for Governor Gavin Newsom.
