Hotel Owners Reopening

Hotels in California have reopened for leisure travelers, but workers in LA say not enough is being done to keep them protected from the virus. Some are calling on local officials to re-close hotels until they've provided the proper safety equipment.

Adelanto Lockdown

Advocates for undocumented immigrants are looking into legal options after detainees at the Adelanto Detention Center were pepper-sprayed earlier this month. A KPCC investigation found guards used force to quell a protest, though detainees say their demonstrations were peaceful. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement says the situation called for force. KPCC investigative reporter Elly Yu looked into it.

Teen Students Work through Pandemic

Since the start of the coronavirus crisis, some high school students have been faced with a tough choice —keep focused on their online studies, or take full-time or part-time jobs to help keep their financially struggling families afloat. Many are falling behind academically, and some may drop out entirely.
