The startling rates of Black infant mortality

Here's a startling statistic, black babies in the United States are twice as likely as white babies to die before their first birthday. Here in Los Angeles County, the rate is even worse—they are three times as likely to die. KPCC's Priska Neely has been researching the reasons why—and what's being done about it.

World Cup fan madness

Southern Californians are in the midst of World Cup madness. Perhaps the most popular game in town will be the Mexico vs. South Korea match set for Saturday morning. A Martinez talks with the James An. He's the owner of Koreatown sports bar, Mok Maru Jong. They will be open bright and early for the Mexico v. South Korea game on Saturday morning. The phone has been ringing off the hook for reservations all week. A Martinez will also check with Mijares restaurant, the almost 100-year-old institution in Pasadena, which will also be open at dawn on Saturday to cheer on team Mexico.

The origin of Dodger Dogs

For most, a trip to Dodger stadium would not be complete without a Dodger Dog, that extra-long hot dog that hang out over the bun.
