California State University Audit
The California State University system stashed away $1.5 billion in reserve accounts, while raising tuition and lobbying Sacramento for more money. That's according to a report by the state auditor.
It shows most of the extra dollars came from tuition paid by students between 2008 and 2018 -- the same time CSU nearly doubled student tuition at its 23 campuses. The report says CSU didn't fully inform legislators and students about its surplus.

SCOTUS Overturns Murder Ruling Because of Racial Bias
Today, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a murder conviction involving an African American from Mississippi. He had been tried six times by juries that were almost entirely white.
Culver City Rent Cap
Following Inglewood’s lead, the adjacent area of Culver City will vote on a potential rent freeze at its city council meeting this coming Monday. The move toward renter protection is in anticipation of an influx of tech jobs once Amazon and Apple move to the area. If the moratorium is passed, the council members will likely pursue rent control immediately afterward — a significant move for the fifth most expensive place to rent a studio apartment in the country.

Tequila Postcards
It's the first day of summer, so you may want to indulge in a cool libation this weekend. How about this universal favorite: the margarita? Take Two contributor Betto Arcos recently traveled to the town of Tequila, in Mexico, and visited a distillery there to get an explainer on the making of tequila, and brings us this audio postcard.
