Coronavirus: National Guard Deployed

Soldiers from the National Guard have been deployed across the country to assist overwhelmed health departments and skilled nursing facilities hit hard by COVID-19. In California, soldiers are also traveling the state running mobile pop-up testing sites. KPCC's Emily Elena Dugdale reports. 

Coronavirus: What Healthcare Workers Are Experiencing

As the number of COVID-19 cases rose through June and July, hospitals across California saw a surge in patients ... followed by a rising death toll that has set records this week. In LA County, Wednesday marked the worst single-day for coronavirus cases and deaths, although the count was in part due to a backlog in data reporting. And as for the hospitalization rate, that’s begun to level off a little in LA County this past week, but it still remains a major point of concern. So to help us understand the pressure hospitals are facing right now, we spoke to two healthcare professionals.

Thanks to the pandemic, many public restrooms may be closed. There are ways to manage this, however.
