The Trump administration has stepped up its crackdown on China, citing concerns around security, technology and trade. And that's having ripple effects on university campuses throughout the state. Many of them are reporting that Chinese students and scholars are facing visa delays and increased federal scrutiny over their research. There are also new restrictions on American universities collaborating with Chinese institutions.

MS-13 in L.A.

The infamously violent MS-13 gang, based mostly south of the U.S.-Mexico border, was behind some of L.A.'s most gruesome murders, court documents show. The gruesome slayings were among seven Los Angeles-area murders linked to the Fulton clique of MS-13 in the last two years, according to an indictment unsealed last week that charged 22 members of the gang.
