LA Supervisor Janice Hahn on re-opening restaurants and enforcing pandemic rules

On Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom lifted the state’s stay-at-home order, leaving it up to counties to manage restrictions designed to stop the spread of COVID-19. Los Angeles County quickly followed suit, lifting restrictions such as bans on public gatherings that same day, and outdoor dining later this week. There is a lot of debate over whether this is an appropriate move, especially since coronavirus cases are still in the thousands each day.

Looking back on the travel ban four years ago

Four years ago today-- January 27, 2017-- former President Donald Trump issued what came to be known as the Muslim Ban. Immediately the news drew hundreds if not thousands of people out to airports protesting the ban. That first effort to curb immigration from Muslim majority countries would get struck down, but others were issued and ultimately one did last for the duration of Trump’s Presidency. We look back at the effects of this, and what happens now that President Joe Biden has reversed that order.

California weighs in on Biden's climate plan

President Biden signed a slew of executive orders today in an effort to fulfill his campaign promise of making protecting the environment and combating climate change a priority for his administration. Some of the new federal initiatives include a "30x30" conservation plan and a moratorium on new oil and gas leasing on public lands.
