The latest on the strike
A teacher's strike is still looming above us it has now been called for Monday the 14th, unless an agreement can be reached between the L.A. Unified School District and the union that represents its educators —United Teachers Los Angeles. The two sides are meeting again later Friday.

Tipping etiquette
If you've been in an Uber or eaten at a restaurant or hired a furniture mover, the experience usually ends the same way —with a tip or at least the expectation that you'll give one. There are more situations today where people are expected to tip than just two years ago, according to a new survey from Consumer Reports. The magazine looked into the gratuity economy for its February issue ... and found that the system is filled with inequities, discrimination, even fraud.
