ECE Segregation: Part Two
Recent research points to an uncomfortable fact: Public preschool in California is deeply segregated. More than half of the state's children go to a preschool with has 90 to 100 percent children of color. When the Supreme Court outlawed segregation in public education it did so because it found that separate schools were not equal. But the decision doesn't apply to preschool. Reporter Deepa Fernandes set out to discover just how unequal California's public preschools are compared to preschools in higher income, mostly white, areas.
Wellbeing Clinics at Los Angeles County Schools
50 "Wellbeing Centers" will open up at high school campuses throughout L.A. County by June of next year. The clinics will offer mental and reproductive health services to an estimated 75,000 teens. The program is due to a collaboration between planned parenthood and the county's mental and public health departments.

Feuer FAA Lawsuit
L.A. City Attorney Mike Feuer will announce a lawsuit against the Federal Aviation Administration Thursday morning. His office says it's an effort to find relief for residents and businesses in the southeast San Fernando Valley who have endured a significant increase in airplane noise and traffic from changes in flight paths of planes departing Hollywood Burbank Airport.

Boat Fire Regs
California Senator Dianne Feinstein is proposing boat safety legislation in the wake of the deadly Conception dive boat fire. The bill would require boats to have at least two escape hatches and restrict the storage of lithium-ion batteries.
