Homeless Audit, Traffic Tickets, Music Center Plaza Reopens

LA City Controller says Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority is failing, LADOT reports decline in parking citations, Downtown LA's Music Center Plaza reopens.

The L.A. City Controller released a new audit of L.A.'s homeless agency and finds that its street outreach team is falling short. Plus, LADOT has issued fewer parking tickets so far this year. And, the Music Center Plaza in downtown L.A. has reopened after a 20-month renovation.

City Controller Homeless Audit

Despite L.A.'s efforts to address homelessness, the city agency in charge of organizing boots on the ground is failing. That's according to a report by Los Angeles City Controller Ron Galperin that assesses LAHSA, or the L.A. Homeless Services Authority. Specifically, the problem is with the $10.3 million LAHSA has spent in the last two years on street outreach. That's where teams of people -- like a former homeless person, a health professional, a police officer and more -- will engage with homeless people to connect them with help.

On the Lot

Parking Citations

If you drive in L.A., you already know traffic is a nightmare. And that nightmare only continues when you park and get a ticket. But there's good news. The city of Los Angeles has been issuing fewer parking tickets this year. That's according to an analysis of LA Department of Transportation and City Controller data.
