In LA, Vaccination Rates Keep COVID-19 Cases at Bay

The number of COVID-19 cases remains low in Los Angeles County, and officials are crediting the vaccine rollout. Supervisor Hilda Solis announced during a press conference today that, as of last week, 6.6 million vaccine doses have been administered across the county, and almost 50 percent of the residents 16 and older have received at least one shot. About 30 percent, she said, are fully vaccinated. We talk vaccination rates across the state - and answer your other questions about the Coronavirus.

The Big Winner at the Oscars was Diversity (Sort Of)

The 93rd annual Academy Awards have officially wrapped. The ceremony took place last night at Union Station in downtown L.A.,  and amid the pandemic, things were pretty different this year. There were a few "firsts" when it came to the winners, but there were a few disappointments.

California to Lose a Congressional Seat Due to Slowing Population Growth

The data from the 2020 census is in, and in the last decade the U.S. population grew at its slowest rate since the 1930s. That's due to a decline in births and immigration.  California's population rate is also slowing  down, which mean one less representative for the state.

Warehouse Pollution in the Inland Empire

We head to the Inland Empire...where the noise and emissions from freight trucks have become more common, as giant warehouses displace homes and rural lots. KPCC's Sharon McNary reports from Bloomington.

Judge Rejects City and County Efforts to Halt Homeless Injunction

Last week, Judge David O. Carter issued an injunction ordering officials to offer adequate shelter to all unhoused residents on Skid Row within 90 days. Then, the city AND county appealed the injunction, saying that the order represents judicial overreach. This weekend, Carter rejected that argument.
