We look at the proposed bill that would limit police officers' use of lethal force. Plus, neo-Nazis are recruiting on college and high school campuses. And, where all this year's rainwater will go.
DHS's Nielsen Resigns
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigned Sunday. After announcing her departure on Twitter, President Trump followed up later in the day with more tweets suggesting he wanted to follow up on his desire to "get tougher" on border policies. One of his posts Sunday stated the line: "Our Country is full". But the question is, what more can he really do to be tougher when he is bound by US immigration laws.

Use of Force Legislation
California lawmakers are considering a bill that would limit officers’ use of lethal force only when it is “necessary” for self-defense. It will face a hearing on Tuesday. If it passes, it will be the strictest use of force bill in the U.S., but support is mixed.

Hate Recruiting on Campus
Neo-Nazis are after your kids, so to speak. There has been an increase in white supremacist propaganda recently, especially on college (and to a smaller degree, some high school) campuses, and also online. They look to recruit disenfranchised white kids, typically boys, who may be resentful of minorities. These aren't your parents' bald and tattooed neo-Nazis, but a cleaned-up "alt-right" version that works the same anti-immigrant and anti-Semitic angles, just in polo shirts and without the swastikas, appealing to "white identity" in their attempt to seem more mainstream.

Sparkling Water Winners
A few weeks ago, after taking your suggestions via social media, we debuted our 2019 Sparkling Water Brackets — aka our version of March Madness. As we explained, we eliminated brands that we don't often see in SoCal and store brands, which broke the heart of this writer, who is a ride-or-die fan of Simply Balanced's ginger peach. We also eliminated brands that don't produce many flavors of sparkling water, like Topo Chico, SmartWater sparkling, Perrier and Pellegrino.
