Gavin Newsom

Governor Gavin Newsom joins A Martinez to talk about the latest on his efforts to prepare the state for a rise in COVID-19 cases and a dip in California's economic outlook. On the Frontlines: ER Nurse

Today, Barbara Ferrer - L-A County's director of public health - reported a total of 6,910 cases of COVID-19 in the county and an additional 22 deaths. That brings the county's total number of deaths to 169 and the mortality rate here to 2.4 percent. With that in mind, we hear from someone who is on the frontlines of this pandemic.

CIF Cancelled: A Baseball Player's Story

Last Friday, the California Interscholastic Federation announced the inevitable-- all spring high school sports, including baseball, were cancelled. After making it to the Division 1 City Section finals at Dodger Stadium last year, this left Palisades High without a chance to prove they were more than a one-year wonder.

History of Navy Ship Hospitals

The USNS Mercy has been docked in Los Angeles since the end of March. It's role is to treat patients who are NOT suffering from COVID-19, relieving hospitals that ARE handling people with those symptoms. Meanwhile, the USNS Comfort has been docked in New York City with the aim to do the same. The Navy has a history of answering the call during crises like this with its hospital ships, so we wanted to talk about it.

Guest:

Corona Comedy: Nikki Glaser

One thing that's certainly different during the corona virus pandemic is dating. A talks with a person who's been on the "front lines" of the "dating wars" on a personal level and as a professional. Comedian Nikki Glaser's Netflix special is called “Bangin'...” her Sirius XM show and podcast is “You Up?” and she's the host of Bravo's “Blind Date”.

Disneyland Churros!

A quick tip for dealing with quarantine - this one courtesy of Walt Disney. Up on the Disney Parks Blog, you can find the recipe for Disnelyand's oh-so delicious churro bites. It'll for sure help you fill the time and hopefully satisfy your soul, but I warn you, it involves a lot of butter.
