Trump claims Israel-Iran ceasefire is ‘in effect’ despite initial violations
U.S. President Donald Trump claims a ceasefire between Iran and Israel was “in effect” on Tuesday, after expressing deep frustration with both sides for violating the agreement he brokered. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said he held off on a tougher strike against Iran after speaking to Trump. While both Iran and Israel have acknowledged the shaky ceasefire, no details have emerged about the terms of the deal or what concessions either side may have made. Israel has claimed that Iran broke the ceasefire, which Iran has denied. Joining us this morning on AirTalk to discuss the latest is Farnaz Fassihi, United Nations Bureau Chief for the New York Times.

What’s a popular movie you haven’t seen (and won’t?)
Last week on AirTalk, Austin Cross spoke with listeners at length about the impact of the movie Jaws for the film’s 50th anniversary. The movie’s legacy is storied; it practically invented the idea of the summer blockbuster, and left an entire generation with a (perhaps unfounded) fear of sharks. We heard from a litany of listeners, but one email left us dumbfounded — an email from our very own Larry Mantle.
“I've never seen Jaws.’” - Larry Mantle, Friday June 20
Our very own FilmWeek host hadn’t seen one of the most iconic films of the past century. But is he alone? Today on AirTalk, we’re putting the ask out to listeners: What’s a popular movie you haven’t seen that gets talked about so heavily? We won’t judge… we just want to hear what movie you haven’t seen and whether you’ve felt left out of pop culture moments. Join the conversation: tell us your biggest movie blind spot by calling 866-893-5722 or email atcomments@laist.com.
Mayor Bass on the city’s response to continuing federal immigration actions
Immigration sweeps by federal agents are continuing throughout Southern California. Masked agents have been seen attempting to make arrests across the region, causing fear and confusion as residents question the legitimacy of these officials. At the same time, the national guard is still federalized and deployed throughout the area, and has recently been used during a marijuana farm raid. Questions have also been raised about the use of force being employed by local law enforcement during protests against these sweeps. Today on AirTalk, Los Angeles City Mayor Karen Bass rejoins the program to update listeners on the city’s latest responses to ongoing federal immigration actions.
Three years later: What’s the impact of overturning Roe v. Wade
It has been three years since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade, ending the national right to abortion and leaving abortion rights and guidelines up to the states. Several states have since banned access to abortion services in some capacity, while others, like California, have expanded care in an effort to provide services to women from outside their borders. Abortions nationally have been on the rise despite the overturn of Roe v. Wade, even in states with bans. California itself has seen an increase in the last three years with an influx of out-of-state patients seeking reproductive care. Today on AirTalk, we’re looking at the current state of reproductive care in the aftermath of Dobbs and how California has been specifically impacted. Joining us are Mary Ziegler, professor of law at UC Davis, and Jon Dunn, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino counties.
A new book explores the impact of pop culture on women
Take a scroll on TikTok’s influencer side of the algorithm and you’re likely to eventually stumble upon one of the quirkier lives one can lead: that of a stay-at-home girlfriend. These women, often eschewing different waves and ideas of feminism, say to their followers that it's okay to be more old-fashioned in your relationship, and lead on your boyfriend for financial support. The evolved form of these influencers, the “Trad wives,” take this philosophy to the extreme, with some even calling for women to leave the workforce altogether and for many of the rights women have earned over the years to be rolled back. These influencers and the mindset they tout didn’t spring up in a vacuum. Atlantic staff writer Sophie Gilbert explores how we got to this moment in her new book, Girl on Girl: How Pop Culture Turned a Generation of Women Against Themselves, and she joins Larry today on AirTalk to discuss her findings.
