Triple Play NLCS Preview 10.15.21

Cue up "I love L.A." and break out the bubbly — the Dodgers are headed back to the National League Championship Series after knocking off the rival San Francisco Giants 2-1 in Thursday night's win-or-go-home Game 5 of the NLDS at Oracle Park, though not without a touch of controversy to end the series. It was very much a pitchers' duel through the first six innings. Giants' starter Logan Webb was lights-out, pitching seven innings and striking out seven. A base hit by Cody Bellinger in the top of the 9th drove in the go-ahead (and winning) run, breaking a 1-1 tie that had held in the sixth. The game ended on a controversial call, though, as Giants first baseman Wilmer Flores was called out on a check swing for the game's final out that many, including the broadcasters, thought might have been wrong.

Today on AirTalk, we’ve got the Triple Play with Nick Roman, host of KPCC’s “All Things Considered” and sportswriter Molly Knight, author of “The Long Game” baseball newsletter and former senior staff writer for The Athletic.
