How are Angelenos dealing with the recent ICE raids and subsequent protests?

An overnight curfew was declared for downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday in response to looting and vandalism that broke out during ICE protests, officials said. The curfew was in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and extended east to west from the 5 Freeway to the 110 Freeway, and from north to south from the 10 Freeway to where the 110 and 5 freeways merge. L.A. Mayor Karen Bass said she will consult with law enforcement and other local leaders on whether to extend the curfew again. Bass said she made the decision to impose a curfew after 23 businesses were looted Monday night and other properties were vandalized. California state leaders have asked a federal court to block the Trump administration from using the military and the National Guard to police Los Angeles and other communities in the wake of immigration raids and the protests sparked as a result. Gov. Gavin Newsom and state Attorney General Rob Bonta are seeking a temporary restraining order in federal court. They filed the request Tuesday morning. The Defense Department asked for 24 hours to file a response, and the court granted that request. Newsom and Bonta will then have an opportunity to respond.

How do we stay sexually active and healthy as we age? An expert shares her tips

There are many misconceptions when it comes to sex and older adults. Maybe the most common is – they don’t have it. And yet we know that’s not true. Some people are sexually active through their 90s. As Altadena residents grapple with rebuilding, some are selling their land

Months after the Eaton fire ravaged Altadena and burned down thousands of homes, some Altadena residents are putting their properties up for sale — and finding buyers. While the number of lots being sold only represents a fraction of properties impacted by the fires, the amount of land exchanging hands has been increasing on a monthly basis. A number of programs and efforts have been launched to help residents rebuild their homes and hold onto their land, but some are finding the process untenable. Today on AirTalk, we want to hear from Altadena residents about your thoughts on rebuilding. Maybe you planned on rebuilding, but have since changed your mind? We want to know why. Give us a call at 866-893-5722, or you can email us at atcomments@laist.com. Also joining the program to give a sense of the Altadena real estate market, and how residents are envisioning the future of their community is Ann Marie Ahern, an Altadena resident and real estate agent under the brokerage Rodeo Realty and Melissa Michelson, cofounder and lead organizer of the organization Altadena Not For Sale, and Lori Gay, President and CEO of Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles architectural era of Art Deco. What’s your favorite spot?

From the Eastern Columbia building in downtown – bright turquoise with gold accents – to the lost Pan-Pacific Auditorium, you can take a visual tour of the Art Deco era of Los Angeles in a new book called Art Deco Los Angeles (Angel City Press, 2025). Robert Landau, also known for his 2016 book Rock 'n' Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip, has photographed the city for decades and put together the visuals to guide people through. He joins AirTalk along with architect and historian Alan Hess to talk about how the architectural era of the 1920s and 1930s left a lasting impression on what we see even today. We’d also love to hear from you. Do you have a favorite art deco spot in SoCal? Why does it stand out to you? Call 866-893-5722 or email atcomments@laist.com.

'Photographs by Robert Landau' is an exhibit at Denenberg Fine Arts Gallery. More info can be found here
