As Southwest Tries To Get Flights Back on Track, What’s The Impact To Air Travel?
Southwest Airlines is experiencing continued widespread cancelations and delays following a weekend of major disruptions. According to CBS News, more than 2,000 Southwest flights have been cancelled since late last week.
The widespread disruptions began shortly after the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association, representing 9,000 pilots, asked a federal court on Friday to block the airline’s order that all employees get vaccinated. The union argued that Southwest must negotiate over the issue because it could involve sick leave or disability if pilots have a reaction to the vaccine. Southwest’s CEO said Tuesday he doesn’t believe businesses should implement COVID-19 vaccine mandates, but the company is attempting to adhere to federal regulations.
