It’s deja vu all over again as the Omicron variant of the coronavirus has spread across the United States at a time when, with vaccinations available to all and case rates and hospitalizations declining, many people were starting to feel comfortable resuming normal activities in public places. But as cases rise once again thanks to the less severe but more transmissible Omicron variant, some are rethinking whether it’s really time to be “getting back to normal” and doing things like eating at a restaurant indoors, going to large events or even just gathering with a small group of friends.
