September 11th

AirTalk for September 11, 2003

Wall Street lawyer and author Gerald Posner joins Host Larry Mantle to discuss his new book, Why America Slept: The Failure to Prevent 9/11. Posner spent eighteen months investigating what the CIA and FBI knew about terrorism in recent years, as well as researching Al Qaeda itself. He makes some startling allegations, including making a link between Al Qaeda and Saudi officials, and how the CIA tracked, and then lost, two of the 9/11 hijackers when they entered the US. Posner's book points fingers at US allies and raises questions about the ability of the CIA and FBI to anticipate the threat of September 11th. Did US authorities not heed warnings about an impending attack? What did American allies know about a planned attack and not share? Larry also talks with Brian Michael Jenkins, Senior Advisor to the President of the Rand Corporation and one of the world's leading authorities on terrorism and sophisticated crime.
