Presidential Polls
Larry and his guests John Zogby, President and CEO of Zogby International, Scott Rasmussen, President of Rasmussen Reports, and Dr. Frank Newport, Editor-in-Chief for the Gallup Poll talk about the results of the latest Presidential polls.
King Harbor and Employees' Criminal Records
Larry Mantle talks with L.A. Times staff writer Garrett Therolf about his story in today's L.A. Times that states an analysis of the hospital found that some employees of the hospital have criminal histories, and that some nurses repeatedly failed basic exams.
Iraq Troop Pullout By February
President Bush announced Tuesday that he will pull home about 8,000 combat and support troops by February, a drawdown considered not as strong as long anticipated. No Army combat brigades will be withdrawn in 2008, the final year of the Bush presidency that has come to be dominated by the war. The president said he will keep the U.S. force strength in Iraq largely intact until the next president takes over, drawing criticism from Democrats who want the war ended and a bigger boost of troops in troubled Afghanistan. Larry talks with Jessica Tuchman Mathews, president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
The Incredible Bluefin Tuna
In his new book "Tuna," author Richard Ellis gives an illuminating history of the bluefin tuna, one of the biggest, fastest and most highly evolved marine animals and the source of the world's most popular delicacies. Today the fish is endangered by over-farming and the insatiable sushi market, and Ellis examines various attempts to save the bluefin from extinction and overexploitation. He joins Larry Mantle to talk about the incredible bluefin tuna.
