Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Maliki Closes Checkpoints-Defies U.S.
It seems that Iraqi's prime minister is increasingly at odds with the U.S. Today he ordered the lifting of joint U.S.-Iraqi military checkpoints around the Shiite militant stronghold of Sadr City. The move was another sign of the growing discord between the US and Iraqi governments. Al-Maliki has issued a string of complaints about US policy, at one point saying he is not "America's man in Iraq".
