Libertarian Candidate for President
Michael Badnarik, Libertarian candidate for president, joins Host Larry Mantle to discuss his platform and what it is like to run as a third-party candidate in a hotly contested election year.
Bill Jones
Host Larry Mantle speaks with Bill Jones, Republican challenger to Senator Barbara Boxer, who is seeking her third term. Jones contends that Boxer's liberal positions are out-of-step with mainstream Californians. He also criticizes Boxer’s opposition to the war in Iraq.
Missing Iraqi Explosives
The U.N.'s nuclear watchdog agency, the IAEA, announced Monday the some 380 tons of explosives powerful enough to detonate nuclear warheads are missing from a former Iraqi military facility that was supposed to be under American control. U.N. spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said the interim Iraqi government reported to the agency several days ago in a letter that the explosives were missing from the Al Qaqaa complex south of Baghdad. Reports by NBC News that the artillery disappeared before the Americans arrived in Iraq adds to the confusion surrounding the missing explosives. Senator Diane Feinstein joins Larry to discuss the issue. Also joining the conversation is Danielle Pletka, Vice President, Foreign and Defense Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute.
The U.S. Supreme Court and the Presidential Election
In light of the illness of Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist, Larry Mantle discusses the Presidential election and the issue of the appointment of Supreme Court Justices with Erwin Chemerinsky, Professor of Constitutional Law at Duke University School of Law, and Douglas Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair of Constitutional Law at Pepperdine University School of Law.
